Chp.7-9-Daven Boykin
In these chapters we learn a lot about Stanley’s no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather and a little of the things that are happening at Camp Green Lake. After the boy and the man where at Myra’s house Myra’s father asked them what they have for him to marry his daughter. Igor said he’ll trade his fattest pig to marry Myra, but when Elya said that he has a heart full of love Myra’s father said he’d rather have the pig. Instead of going to play with the other boys wrestle in the mud Elya would go to Madame Zeroni. When he went up their Madame Zeroni saw that something was wrong so she asked him “ What’s wrong?” Elya answered back that he was in love with Myra Menke but Igor Barkov offered his fattest pig for her hand. Well Madame Zeroni said that she thought it was good because she thought that he was to young to get married, but when Elya retorts back and says he loves her Madame Zeroni says that Myra’s head is as empty as a flowerpot. Then when Elya retorts back again Madame Zeroni starts to ask questions like “Can she milk a goat? No!” “Can she push a plow? No!” After that Madame Zeroni said that Elya should go to America like her son, but Elya disagrees. Finally Madame Zeroni said she’d give him a pig that the mother pig wouldn’t let him get any milk and that it was going to die. After Madame Zeroni gave him the pig she told him to carry the pig to the top of the mountain and let it drink some of the water from the stream and when you are doing that you will sing a lullaby to him and every day you will get stronger because of caring the pig up the mountain and the pig will get fatter from drinking from the stream. Then on the day when it is time to go and try to get Myra’s hand you will carry the pig up the mountain one more time to drink from the stream and sing the lullaby. After that Madame Zeroni said all those directions she wanted one more thing from Elya and that was to carry her up the mountain let her drink from the stream and sing the lullaby to her and if he didn’t he and his family would be cursed for eternity. At this time in the chapters Stanley’s hole is three feet deep, but it was really at the center at the hole. Stanly could already feel the rays of heat on his neck even know the sun just came over the horizon. As Stanly went and picked up his water bottle with his blistered hands he noticed that every ones hole was bigger than his. Suddenly Stanly saw a dirt cloud and watched it come towered him and he noticed everyone else was watching it to. When the dirt cloud came closer he could make out a red pick up truck in it. When the red pickup truck got to them the boys went and got a refill of water from Mr. Sir. Meanwhile while Stanly was digging his hole again he daydreamed more of his great-great-Grandfather. Every day Elya took the pig up the mountain and did what Madame Zeroni told him to do. Every day the pig got fatter and Elya got stronger. Finally it was Myra’s birthday, but Elya didn’t take the pig up the mountain one more time like Madame Zeroni told him to because he didn’t want to smell like pig at Myra’s. So he took a bath instead. After that he took his pig to Myra’s. When he got there Igor Barkov was there to. After the pig weighing was done it was a tie. At this time Stanly had blisters everywhere on his hands he tried to block the pain of it by shoveling with his hat on them but the hat kept slipping up and down. Now we get back to Elya. If only Elya listened to Madame Zeroni and taken the pig up the mountain one more time then he would of won, but he didn’t finally Myra’s father let his daughter choose whom she wanted to marry (after Elya convinced him to). Alas Elya got mad and ran off because he thought Myra loved him, but she didn’t pick him. She did the 1-10 trick and whoever got to the closest to the number she is thinking of will win her hand. When the next water truck cam Mr. Pendanski was driving it. The truck also bought sack lunches for them Stanly got a baloney sandwich potato chips and a big cookie. Meanwhile after Elya ran away from the Myra’s house he wondered through town. As he walked through town Elya finally agreed with Madame Zeroni that Myra’s head was as empty as a flowerpot. As Elya was walking through town he saw some men working and a sighn saying, “Deck hands wanted. Free passage to America.” So Elya decided to get on the boat and go to America, but when the boat was set to sea Elya remembered that he broke the promise he made with Madame Zeroni. Meanwhile at Camp Green Lake Stanly noticed that Zero the smallest kid in group D had finished with his hole. When Zero got out of the hole he spit in it and headed back to camp. Stanley watched as one by one the boys left, spat in their hole, and go back to camp. At America Elya learned how to speak English. In America Elya fell in love with a girl named Sarah Miller and she could do all of the things Myra couldn’t do. Elya kept on looking for Madame Zeroni’s son in America, but he couldn’t find him. At last (after the barn was burnt down the third time) Elya told Sarah about his promise he broke with Madame Zeroni and that he was cursed forever. After that Sarah asked Elya to sing the pig-lullaby to her and he did. One year later their child was born the boy was named Stanly and Sarah decided to change the words of the pig-lullaby to sing to Stanly. When she was done it phrased to this “If only If only” the woodpecker sighs,” The bark on the trees were as soft as the skies.” While the wolf waits below hungry and lonely, crying to the moo-oo-oon “If only, If only.” Back at camp Stanlies hole was 5 feet deep, but not wide enough. So he chipped off some more pieces and finally he was done with his hole. Then he heard the water truck coming he was happy it was coming because he wanted to show whoever was driving the truck that he succeeded on his first hole, but there was a problem. He couldn’t get out of his hole it was to big. Then he heard Mr. Pendanskis voice call his name. Finally he got out by making two-foot holes in the dirt. After Mr. Pendanski saw Stanlies hole he got back in the truck and took off. After that Stanly spat in his hole and went back to camp. In the next chapter we learn a bit about Yellow Spotted Lizards. They have exactly eleven dots on their backs, they grow to about 6 to 10 inches long, they have red eyes, and it has black teeth with a milky white tongue. Oh and another thing if you do see the Yellow Spotted Lizard and see its spots your probably dead. After Stanly took a shower he got his box of stationary and went to the wreck room and it was really a wrecked room the TV was broken, the furniture, the pool table and more. When Stanly was walking towered the couch he tripped over a leg the orange lump started getting mad at him, but luckily X-Ray and Armpit came to back him up, but they were using a weird name as they protected him it was Caveman. When they finally got away from the lump they started talking about the holes and how on your first day it was kind of fun because every kid wants to dig a hole once in their life. When the boys left and stopped crowding around Stanly he started writing his letter when he noticed someone was watching him it was Zero. Stanly told Zero that his Mom would be worried if he doesn’t write to her, but Zero didn’t seem to be worried about that. Zero just asked if the shoes Stanly was thrown in here for had red Xs on them. Stanly said yes then he heard someone calling Caveman and asking if he wanted to come to dinner he looked back and apparently he was the guy named Caveman…
Chapter 10-15
Stanley finds a fossilized fish while digging and shows is to Mr. Pendanceski for the day off but Mr. Pendanceski says that the fossil he found won’t get Stanley the day off. When Stanley returns to his tent he finds everyone sitting in a circle discussing what they want to do with their lives’. While digging his third hole Stanley finds a gold tube that was open at one end and closed at the other, it also had an engraving on the closed end of the tube, a heart with letters K B etched inside it, which he gives to X-Ray who puts it in his pocket so he can show it to Mr. Pendanski the next morning. The next morning X-Ray shows the tube to Mr. Pendanski who shows it to the “Warden” and X-Ray is given the day off. Stanley also meets the “Warden” who is actually a woman.

Chp. 16-In this chapter Stanley and the rest of his group D are looking for something but they don’t what. They now have to work in partners one person digs while the other puts the dirt in a wheelbarrow and puts it far away from the hole. Stanley gets a letter from his mom and he realizes that zero is standing over his shoulder. Stanley asked if he new the nursery rhyme about the lady who lived in the shoe. But he didn’t.
Chp. 17-In this chapter the boys continued to dig around the area where X-Ray had supposedly found the gold tube. The Warden tells Mr. Sir he is giving the kids to much water because they are going to the bathroom a lot. When Stanley was digging in the big hole as he raised his hovel filled with dirt and ZigZag’s shovel hits his head and Stanley collapses. When Stanley wakes up he finds ZigZag’s head binding over him. And says that’s your dirt.
Chp. 18- In this chapter the boys are digging in another part of the lake. They were now digging their regular holes 5 feet deep and 5 feet wide. Stanley is still feeling pain is his neck but the rest of his body was fine. His muscles were getting stronger. He was still the slowest digger. After digging Stanley took a shower got his stationary out and wrote a letter to his mom and dad. He lied about a lot of stuff like he said they were going to learn how to rock climb. He later realizes Zero cant read or write. Zero wants Stanley to teach him but Stanley doesn’t want to.
Chp. 19- When Stanley is sleeping he hears Squid is crying. The next day Stanley was thankful that there weren’t any racial problems here. X-Ray, Armpit, and Zero were black. Stanley, Squid, and Zigzag were white. Magnet was Hispanic. On the lake they were all the same reddish brown-color the color of dirt. The water truck came and when it left Magnet yelled does anyone want any sunflower seeds? He gave is to X-Ray then to Armpit then Squid. Squid tossed it to Zigzag. Zigzag tossed it to Caveman but he really didn’t want any. He thought it would make him even more thirsty. Stanley dropped it. And the seeds spilled all over his hole. Stanley tried to dig his hole, and tried to turn over the dirt and bury the seeds. Mr. Sir caught him and took him to the Warden.
Chp. 20- Stanley is at the Wardens house and she is not happy that Mr. Sir is bothering her She doesn’t really care about the sunflower seeds. The Warden asks Stanley to bring her the flowered case, which is a makeup case. She takes out a nail polish tube with dark red nail polish in it. It was full of snake venom she said it wasn’t harmless when it’s dry. Mr. Sir explains what happens and then the warden slaps Mr. Sir. She tells Stanley he wont die then she tells him to go back to his hole and dig more.
Chp. 21- When Stanley starts walking back he thinks about his great-grandfather not the bad one but his son. And how he was robbed by Kate Barlow. When Stanley is walking he hears a rattle snake. He almost steps on it and runs back to his hole and finds his hole almost finished. And he realizes Zero did it. Stanley was finally first to finish because of Zero.
ch 21-28
In these chapters Stanley was the first one finished with his hole so he spat in it then went to the showers. Mr. Sir woke up from his knock out by the warden and thought about the KB on the lipstick cap that x-ray found (but Stanley really found it in his hole). So he remembered Kissen-“Kate-Barlow” (KB) that was her bullet and he remembered how Sam kissed her and the sheriff wanted a kiss, but Kate didn’t give it to him because he was drunk then she asked her if he was drunk, then he said I always get drunk before a hang they were going to hang him but they were going to the secret onion ranch and his boat crashed into another boat and the person driving the other boat shot Sam and killed him. The next day, Kate Barlow went to the sheriff hut, shot him, and gave him the kiss he wanted. Later Kate Barlow went to green lake, woke up with a rifle to her head it was Trout Walker!!! one of her students with his wife , trout walker and his wife started to demand where she hid her loot and she nudged over at the shovel, they said she buried it in the lake and they hit her with the shovel and tried to make her dig, but they pushed her down and she didn't get back up then a yellow spotted lizard came by, and got killed while laughing by that same lizard. -Graham Bowers

In these chapters Stanley gets in a fight with Zig-Zag and then Zero tries to help Stanley by strangling Zig-Zag. After ‘Mom’ said to get off of him he does and then whacks ‘mom’ across the face with a shovel. After whacking ‘mom’ in the face he walks off. The next day, Stanly decides to go after Zero when a new boy comes. To find Zero, Stanley steals Mr. Sir’s car. With the car, Stanley hits a hole and falls out of the car. Stanley gets up and walks the rest of the way to find Zero. On the way, Stanley finds a hole with a family of lizards in it. Stanley runs until he can’t run anymore.
Chp.34-38-Daven Boykin
In these chapters Stanly finds Zero under a boat in the middle of a non-water lake. When Zero takes Stanly under the boat Zero hands Stanly this stuff Zero calls Sploosh. Finally Stanly and Zero got out from under the boat and start heading toward Gods Thumb. When Stanly and Zero get to the end of the lake they have to climb about a fifty-foot wall to get out. Then they started climbing the mountain. When Stanly and Zero started climbing the mountain Zero faints so Stanly has to carry him up. Finally they get to the top and find some water by digging a hole and onions and Zero wakes up.
Chapters 39-43
In these chapters Zero tells Stanley that he stole the shoes. Stanley goes back down the mountain to look for the shovel and the sack. Stanley thinks of a plan to go back to camp green lake and look for the treasure. Zero tells Stanley about his life before coming to camp green lake and how he became homeless. Zero and Stanley head back to camp to look for the treasure and then go find civilization.

In these chapters Stanley and Zero are still at camp hiding in the hole. Zero went out to find food and water in the camp and he comes back with a box of cereal. They start digging again and Stanley finds a brief case. Then the Warden, Mr. Sir, and Mom come in their PJ’s. All of the sudden they see yellow spotted lizards crawling up them. The Warden wants to stay until they get bitten and then she will take the brief case from them and give Stanley’s body to his lawyer. And she will find a hole to put Zero’s in. Everyone else leaves and Mom comes back with Stanley’s lawyer. She said she wants to take him back. After a while the lizards leave and just sit in the hole. Then the lawyer took Stanley. But, he wants to take Zero with him. The lawyer wants to see his records’ but they say he doesn’t have any. So, he can come with them. When they get back to camp Zigzag says he is sorry and asks him to call his mom and tell the Alan is sorry. He promises and gets in the BMW. Stanley decides to open the case when he gets home so his dad can do it. In the car Zero tells the lawyer he stole the sneakers and she said she didn’t hear and to make sure she doesn’t. She shows them Stanley’s dad’s invention and it is made by PEACHES! A short while later the boys fell asleep. Behind them the sky turned dark, and for the first time in over a hundred years, a drop of rain fell into the empty lake.

He almost steps on it and runs back to his hole and finds his hole almost finished. And he realizes Zero did it. Stanley was finally first to finish because of Zero.
ch 21-28
In these chapters Stanley was the first one finished with his hole so he spat in it then went to the showers. Mr. Sir woke up from his knock out by the warden and thought about the KB on the lipstick cap that x-ray found (but Stanley really found it in his hole). So he remembered Kissen-“Kate-Barlow” (KB) that was her bullet and he remembered how Sam kissed her and the sheriff wanted a kiss, but Kate didn’t give it to him because he was drunk then she asked her if he was drunk, then he said I always get drunk before a hang they were going to hang him but they were going to the secret onion ranch and his boat crashed into another boat and the person driving the other boat shot Sam and killed him. The next day, Kate Barlow went to the sheriff hut, shot him, and gave him the kiss he wanted. Later Kate Barlow went to green lake, woke up with a rifle to her head it was Trout Walker!!! one of her students with his wife , trout walker and his wife started to demand where she hid her loot and she nudged over at the shovel, they said she buried it in the lake and they hit her with the shovel and tried to make her dig, but they pushed her down and she didn't get back up then a yellow spotted lizard came by, and got killed while laughing by that same lizard. -Graham Bowers

In these chapters Stanley gets in a fight with Zig-Zag and then Zero tries to help Stanley by strangling Zig-Zag. After ‘Mom’ said to get off of him he does and then whacks ‘mom’ across the face with a shovel. After whacking ‘mom’ in the face he walks off. The next day, Stanly decides to go after Zero when a new boy comes. To find Zero, Stanley steals Mr. Sir’s car. With the car, Stanley hits a hole and falls out of the car. Stanley gets up and walks the rest of the way to find Zero. On the way, Stanley finds a hole with a family of lizards in it. Stanley runs until he can’t run anymore.
Chp.34-38-Daven Boykin
In these chapters Stanly finds Zero under a boat in the middle of a non-water lake. When Zero takes Stanly under the boat Zero hands Stanly this stuff Zero calls Sploosh. Finally Stanly and Zero got out from under the boat and start heading toward Gods Thumb. When Stanly and Zero get to the end of the lake they have to climb about a fifty-foot wall to get out. Then they started climbing the mountain. When Stanly and Zero started climbing the mountain Zero faints so Stanly has to carry him up. Finally they get to the top and find some water by digging a hole and onions and Zero wakes up.
Chapters 39-43
In these chapters Zero tells Stanley that he stole the shoes. Stanley goes back down the mountain to look for the shovel and the sack. Stanley thinks of a plan to go back to camp green lake and look for the treasure. Zero tells Stanley about his life before coming to camp green lake and how he became homeless. Zero and Stanley head back to camp to look for the treasure and then go find civilization.
Summary chp. 44-49 Adrianna Barry
In these chapters Stanley and Zero are still at camp hiding in the hole. Zero went out to find food and water in the camp and he comes back with a box of cereal. They start digging again and Stanley finds a brief case. Then the Warden, Mr. Sir, and Mom come in their PJ’s. All of the sudden they see yellow spotted lizards crawling up them. The Warden wants to stay until they get bitten and then she will take the brief case from them and give Stanley’s body to his lawyer. And she will find a hole to put Zero’s in. Everyone else leaves and Mom comes back with Stanley’s lawyer. She said she wants to take him back. After a while the lizards leave and just sit in the hole. Then the lawyer took Stanley. But, he wants to take Zero with him. The lawyer wants to see his records’ but they say he doesn’t have any. So, he can come with them. When they get back to camp Zigzag says he is sorry and asks him to call his mom and tell the Alan is sorry. He promises and gets in the BMW. Stanley decides to open the case when he gets home so his dad can do it. In the car Zero tells the lawyer he stole the sneakers and she said she didn’t hear and to make sure she doesn’t. She shows them Stanley’s dad’s invention and it is made by PEACHES! A short while later the boys fell asleep. Behind them the sky turned dark, and for the first time in over a hundred years, a drop of rain fell into the empty lake.
